2,000 Nuclear Weapons to De-Alert - Reducing Operational Readiness on the Way to Global Zero

A side event at the UN First Committee hosted by the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the ELN, NTI and Global Zero at the United Nations marks the start of a new initiative by Global Zero to build support for de-alerting nuclear weapons, an urgent step suggested in a series of Wall Street Journal op-eds by George Shultz, William Perry, Henry Kissinger and Sam Nunn.

Speakers include NTI Vice Chairman Des Browne, Ambassador Benno Laggner of Switzerland, Global Zero's Bruce Blair and Ambassador Dell Higgie of New Zealand.
