In March 2011, Ethiopia requested support in the form of training of personnel and provision of equipment, and specifically:

  • To develop the capability of the national authority to establish a bio-safety facility, through bio-safety and biosecurity workshops;
  • To acquire import-export or border control equipment such as radiation meters, radioactive material detectors and chemical investigation equipment;
  • To enhance and upgrade container and cargo security at the border entry points
