India: Suspected Uranium Seized from Traffickers in Meghalaya and Assam

Abstract:

On 7 June 2010, two women were arrested in Meghalaya with a package containing alleged uranium. They were arrested on the basis of information provided by two men arrested earlier in Assam’s Dhubri district with a package of suspected uranium which reportedly had a seal of the Indian Department of Atomic Energy. The package was sent to a forensic laboratory for analysis, but its results were not reported.
