Kazakh customs detain Germany-bound lorry with radioactive material

Abstract:

On 23 May 2008, Kazakh customs officials on the Russo-Kazakh border checkpoint Zhanazhol detained a vehicle heading from Petropavlovks, Russia, to Germany. The lorry’s cargo, an unknown metal, reportedly exceeded the maximum permissible norm -- 116.22 microroentgen/hour. {Entered 7/15/08 AL}
