U.N. Security Council Experts to Examine U.S. Draft WMD Resolution From Thursday, December 18, 2003 issue.

U.N. Security Council Experts to Examine U.S. Draft WMD Resolution

Experts from the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council are expected to meet today to discuss a draft U.S. resolution that would prohibit WMD transfers to individuals and organizations, according to Agence France-Presse (see GSN, Dec. 17).

After the draft resolution is examined by experts from the five permanent council members, it will then be distributed to the 10 nonpermanent members, diplomats said. A U.S. State Department deputy spokesman said yesterday that once the council members have examined the resolution, “we’ll take their comments on board and we’ll move forward” (Agence France-Press, Dec. 17).
