Germany to Extradite Accused Nuclear Smuggler

The extradition of a Swiss engineer arrested last year in Germany under suspicion of smuggling uranium enrichment components to Libya has been allowed to go forward, Agence France-Presse reported Friday (see GSN, March 16).

Urs Tinner agreed to be extradited under a plea deal with Swiss authorities through which he would only receive a fine, according to a report Saturday in Germany’s Der Spiegel magazine.

German authorities said they would move Tinner within a few days (Agence France-Presse, May 13).
