Russia Tests New Early Warning Radar

Russia has begun testing a new early warning radar, Interfax reported yesterday (see GSN, Aug. 13, 2004).

The new technology is both a missile defense and air defense early warning system, and could lead to replacement of existing radar systems in Russia and abroad, Space Troops commander Vladimir Popovkin said yesterday (Interfax, Jan. 18).
