China Supports Plan for Renewing North Korea Talks

China on Friday expressed support for a U.S.-South Korean plan to restart the six-nation negotiations on North Korea’s nuclear program, the Associated Press reported (see GSN, Sept. 29).

“I support it,” Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei said after meeting with senior South Korean officials in Seoul.

Details of the plan have not been made public.  The talks have been stalled since November 2005 (Jae-Soon Chang, Associated Press/Yahoo!News, Sept. 29).
