India, Pakistan Agree on Nuclear Safety Steps

India and Pakistan have approved an agreement to reduce the risks of a nuclear accident or an unauthorized nuclear attack, the Associated Press reported today (see GSN, Nov. 13).

The agreement was finalized during a meeting of the two nations’ foreign secretaries in New Delhi, and will be signed at a later date, according to Pakistani Foreign Secretary Riaz Mohammed Khan.  Khan provided no details of the agreement, AP reported (Muneeza Naqvi, Associated Press/Houston Chronicle, Nov. 15).
