G-8 Looks to Stop Terrorism, WMD Financing

U.S. Treasury Secretary John Snow said he and other Group of Eight finance ministers on Saturday discussed ways to stop funding of terrorism and WMD threats, Agence France-Presse reported (see GSN, Feb. 7).

The ministers agreed that “multilateralizing” was needed in efforts to freeze terrorism-related assets and bank accounts, Snow said.

The ministers also talked about extending the blocking of assets to “the financing of WMD.” Snow said the G-8 nations “should have coordination” on the matter (Agence France-Presse/News.com.au, Feb. 11).
