Tokyo Sarin Attacker Again Appeals Death Sentence

A former Aum Shinrikyo cult member today appealed a Tokyo High Court decision to uphold his death sentence for his involvement in the deadly 1995 Tokyo subway sarin attack, the Associated Press reported (see GSN, March 15).

Attorneys for Tomomitsu Niimi said their client was loyal to Aum founder Shoko Asahara and was compelled to follow his instructions, Kyodo News reported (Associated Press, March 16).
