NNSA Announces New Nevada Test Site Manager


National Security Technologies, LLC has been chosen to manage and operate the Nevada Test Site, the National Nuclear Security Administration announced Tuesday (see GSN, Feb. 24).

The five-year contract is valued at approximately $500 million per year, with the possibility of an extension. The company will be responsible operations at the site and at satellite facilities in California, Nevada, New Mexico and Washington, D.C., according to a press statement.

The work includes remote field experiments and operations; physical and environmental science; design and fabrication of electronic, mechanical, and structural systems; remote and robotic sensing; management of multilaboratory facilities; engineering, construction, and mining operations; chemical, explosives, and hazardous materials systems and technologies; and waste management for various categories of waste (U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration release, March 28).
