Biotech Firm Completes Smallpox Vaccine Trial

A U.S. biotechnology company has finished the first phase of human safety testing of a new smallpox vaccine, United Press International reported yesterday (see GSN, Aug. 1). SIGA Technologies Inc. has received a $4.8 million grant from the National Institutes of Health, which will help the company continue work on the smallpox drug (United Press International, Aug. 3).
