U.S. Buys More Smallpox Vaccine

British drug maker Acambis has received a $30 million deal to supply 10 million new doses of its ACAM2000 smallpox vaccine for the U.S. Strategic National Stockpile, the company announced yesterday (see GSN, Sept. 6).

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ordered the doses under an existing supply contract, under which Acambis has already supplied 182.5 million doses.

Acambis plans to supply the doses from its existing inventory this year (Acambis release/Market Wire, Sept. 12).
