U.S. Response II: Pentagon Certifies Hawaii Civil Support Team

The U.S. Defense Department yesterday announced it has certified the Hawaii WMD Civil Support Team (see GSN, March 13). The team, part of the Hawaii National Guard, is ready to respond in the event of a domestic incident involving weapons of mass destruction, the Pentagon said (see GSN, Feb. 8). Defense has now certified all 17 WMD civil support teams authorized by Congress in fiscal 2000 (U.S. Defense Department release, April 30).
