Indian Defense Minister George Fernandes yesterday said India has approved “in principle” the creation of an army regiment to command the Agni ballistic missile (see GSN, April 26).  The Agni, which has a 2,500-kilometer range and can be armed with a one-metric ton nuclear warhead, can be launched within 15 minutes of receiving a command (Agence France-Presse, May 15).
