Iran: Tehran Willing to Sign Protocol After Rights Are Clarified Iran has indicated that it may be willing to sign the Additional Protocol to its international nuclear safeguards agreement, which would allow the International Atomic Energy Agency to conduct intrusive inspections of Tehran’s nuclear activities, Agence France-Presse reported yesterday (see GSN, July 15). During a visit to Moscow, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Galiamali Khosru said that Iran and the IAEA must understand their specific rights before the agreement is signed. “We favor signing the protocol but we believe that the rights of Iran and the IAEA must be clarified,” Khosru said (Agence France-Presse/Yahoo!News, July 15).
