Man Pleads Guilty to Ricin Possession

A Maryland man serving time for extortion pleaded guilty Friday to possessing ricin and improvised hand grenades, the Associated Press reported (see GSN, Sept. 30, 2004).

Myron Tereshchuk is in prison after pleading guilty last year to trying to extort $17 million from a competitor in the patent and trade information distribution business.

FBI agents found materials related to ricin production and at least eight hand grenades in Tereshchuk’s home in March 2004, according to AP.

Tereshchuk could serve 15 years in prison for the weapons offenses. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 18 (Associated Press/Stamford Advocate, May 13).
