Syria Acquires Chemical Warheads, Israel Says

The Israeli army has reported that Syria obtained chemical warheads for its surface-to-surface missiles in possible anticipation of military conflict with Israel, Agence France-Presse reported today (see GSN, April 25). Israeli Defense Minister Edud Barak, though, said that ordering the distribution of gas masks now could increase tensions between the countries, according to Army radio (Agence France-Presse/Yahoo!News, Aug. 13).
