Al-Qaeda Declares Chem, Bio Specialist Dead

Al-Qaeda has confirmed the death of four operatives, including the man believed to have led the terrorist group’s chemical and biological weapon development efforts, CNN reported yesterday (see GSN, July 29).

An online release dated Thursday does not specify Abu Khabab al-Masri’s time of death, but he was targeted by a U.S. drone-launched missile attack in Pakistan last week.

"Although Abu Khabab is gone, he left behind him a generation who will seek revenge and punishment with God's help," states the release, signed by Mustafa Abu al-Yazid, al-Qaeda’s top man in Afghanistan.  "And while the 'expert' is gone, he left behind experts who were taught and trained under his hands throughout the years" (CNN, Aug. 3).
