Spokesperson on the Withdrawal of the DPRK from the NPT

01 January 2003

Source: Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Website

Q: What is your comment on the withdrawal of the DPRK from the NPT?

A: China is concerned about the declaration of the DPRK to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and the possible consequences as a result of it. The NPT is of major importance for preventing the nuclear proliferation and promoting peace and security of the international community. We hope to continue to safeguard the universality of the NPT and will continue to work for the peaceful solution of the nuclear question of the DPRK.
