China National Chemical Industry Import-Export Corporation (SINOCHEM)

Founded in 1950, China National Chemicals Import and Export Corporation (Sinochem) imports and exports oil, fertilizers, rubber, plastics and chemicals.  Sinochem is a large conglomerate that ranks as one of China's 500 largest foreign trade enterprises and as one of the top 30 multiple service enterprises in China. Company literature puts total export volume in 1997 at $2.924 billion US dollars, which was 1.6% of China's total.  Sinochem's import volume for 1997 was listed as $6.598 billion US dollars, which was 4.64% of China's total.
