Non NPT States with Nuclear Weapons
- Arsenal Size:
-Estimated to have between 100 and 200 (bombs, missile warheads, and possibly non-strategic weapons). Some reports place the number as high as 400.
Key Delivery Systems:
-Strategic: Aircraft (F-16s, F-15s); Land-based missiles (Jericho I, Jericho II); Sea-based (cruise) missiles (3 Dolphin-class submarines armed with Popeye Turbo SLCMs that are possibly nuclear-tipped).
-Non-strategic: Allegations that Israel possesses nuclear artillery shells and nuclear mines. - Estimated Destructive Power:
1500-4000 kt - Military Fissile Material Stockpiles:
Plutonium: 0.45 mt +/- 25% - Disarmament and commitments to reduce arsenal size:
Has not signed the NPT.
Future commitments:
In support of non-discriminatory, verifiable FMCT. The treaty should not cover existing stockpiles. - Nuclear Weapons Policies:
Neither confirms nor denies possession of nuclear weapons
Nuclear testing policy:- No confirmed nuclear weapon tests.
- Party to PTBT (banning atmosphere, in outer space, and under water test); signed the CTBT.
Use of Nuclear Weapons:
No known nuclear doctrine. Not to be the first to introduce nuclear weapons in the Middle East.
