NATO non-nuclear weapon state sharing US nuclear weapons.
- Arsenal Size:
90 U.S. non-strategic gravity B-61 warheads in two locations. - Weapons System:
Non strategic warheads: B-61-3, B-61-4, B-61-10.
Delivery Aircraft: U.S. F-16C/D, Tornado. - Destructive Power:
Each of the three variants of the type B61 has a variable maximum yield. The B-61-3 has a maximum yield of 170 Kt, B-61-4 has 45 Kt and B-61-10 has 80 Kt. - Nuclear Weapons Policies:
1999 NATO Strategic Concept confirms commitment to deploying nuclear weapons in Europe to maintain the "minimum level sufficient to preserve peace and stability"
2005 NATO reaffirmed continued deployment of U.S. nuclear weapons in Europe.
2003 signed two agreements with President Putin promising cooperation in dismantling Russian nuclear submarines.
Treaty Commitments:
State party to the NPT, PTBT, and CTBT.
