Abstract: An unnamed US government official claimed that the Pakistani Ghauri-2, which it test-launched in mid-April 1999, is a remodeled version of the North Korean Nodong-1 missile. Pakistan's liquid-fueled Ghauri-2 medium-range ballistic missile has a range of 2,000km and a payload capacity of up to 1,000kg.
The North Korean liquid-fueled Nodong-1 has a range of 1,300km and is based on the Soviet Scud-C missile. The Nodong-1 was first tested in May 1993, and according to Japanese government sources, six Nodong missiles have been operationally deployed near the Chinese border. |
