KAZAN DEVELOPMENTS: 10/28/97: KAZAN PLANT TO DELIVER SIX BLACKJACK
BOMBERS Vasiliy Aleksandrov, general director of the Tupolev holding company,
said on 28 October 1998 that the Russian Defense Ministry had secured the
funds to buy six Tu-160 (Blackjack) bombers from the Kazan Aviation Production
Company (KAPO).[1] Five of the Tu-160s, finished in 1994, were ready
for immediate delivery, and one was in the final stages of assembly.[2]
