CURRENT STATUS:
Construction of Units 1 and 2 is scheduled to be completed by 2010. Nezavisimaya Gazeta reported that there are plans to install new VVER-640 reactors at the Khabarovsk nuclear power plant after the year 2000. The VVER-640 is a new-generation nuclear reactor designed during a three-year joint project conducted by the Russian Ministry of Atomic Energy and the German company Siemens.[1,2]
