Zarubezhatomenergostroy Russia: Zarubezhatomenergostroy
Всероссийское производственное объединение "Зарубежатомэнергострой"

The All-Russian Production Association Zarubezhatomenergostroy was created by Soviet decree in 1973 to expand cooperation with foreign countries in the field of nuclear energy. Zarubezhatomenergostroy was charged with negotiating contract conditions, purchasing equipment and materials, providing technical assistance for nuclear facilities, and establishing nuclear research and nuclear industry centers abroad.  Zarubezhatomenergostroy worked with numerous Russian subcontractors and the foreign economic association Atomenergoeksport to fulfill obligations set down in international agreements between the Soviet Union (subsequently Russia) and Bulgaria, Hungary, Czechoslovakia (the Czech Republic and Slovakia), Finland, Cuba, Iran, China, India, and other countries. Between 1973 and 1998, in six countries, Zarubezhatomenergostroy built 22 VVER-440 reactors and two VVER-1000 reactors and provided technical assistance in the construction of more than 50 research facilities.[1]  In 1998, Zarubezhatomenergostroy was merged with Atomenergoeksport to create Atomstroyeksport, an independent organization within the Minatom system.[2,3]
