Abstract:
According to RIA Novosti, on 16 May 2007 security personnel at Moscow's Sheremetyevo-I airport discovered a parcel emitting radioactivity at 20 times above the normal background level. The radioactivity was detected by a Yantar radiation detection system during a mail screening operation.

Shortly after security personnel reported the discovery, an emergency services unit from Moscow Oblast, along with representatives of the Environmental Ministry and Radon, arrived at the scene. According to RIA Novosti, the radioactive parcel was taken by Radon officials for further investigation.
