History: El-Nasr Pharmaceuticals was established in 1960. It is part of 11-company-strong Drug Holding Company. It is also one of the major public sector companies in Egypt established after the 1952 revolution. The company has been involved in researching, developing, distributing, and marketing pharmaceuticals, raw materials, laboratory chemicals, and veterinary products over 40 years.
Activities:
The El-Nasr Pharmaceutical, Chemicals Co. manufactures "IV solutions, veterinary specialties, haemodialysis concentrates, bulk chemicals, laboratory chemicals, industrial enzymes, and other pharmaceutical related materials." The country exports to Europe, Asia, Africa, and to some Arab countries.
According to a Federation of American Scientists' report from October 1999, there are "indications" of biological weapons production at El-Nasr Medicinals and Antibiotics. No sources are given for the "almost" certainty or the "indications" mentioned in the report.
