Tata Chemicals also has a fertilizer project, which has been awarded for its efforts in energy conservation, productivity, and safety.

Activities:
Tata Chemicals has a salt works facility of 60 sq km at the Mithapure chemical complex. There are four divisions at this complex: soda ash; chloro-caustic group; marine chemicals and salt; and cement. A self-titled "chemical behemoth," Tata Chemicals is the largest producer of soda ash in the world, while its fertilizer complex manufactures 12 percent of the total urea (commonly used fertilizer) produced in the Indian private sector. Its fertilizer complex is unique in India in that it is the sole facility to use a dual feedstock facility, utilizing natural gas and/or naphtha.

In 1995, the Bundesnachrichtendienst (BND), Germany's intelligence agency, reported that Tata Consulting Engineering is one of three Indian companies that helped Iran equip a facility to produce sarin and tabun.
