History:
The Department of Defense Production and Supplies was formed in December 1984 as a merger of the then Department of Defense Production and Department of Defense Supplies.

Activities:
The Directorate of Quality Insurance within the department is responsible for the research and development of equipment relating to nuclear, chemical, and biological warfare.
