June 1992 Indonesia one ton of ammonium perchlorate This chemical is an oxidizing agent used in solid-propellant formulas. The ammonium perchlorate is sold to the Indonesian Space Agency.
April 1994 Global Tender The following items are offered for sale:SAM-II guidance systems, 126 serviceable missiles, 35 SAM-II launchers, 92 liters of “O” fuel (nitric acid), 53,124 liters of “G” fuel, and 20,785 liters of “IPN” The Indian Air Force advertises these items for sale in international aviation journals. Although there is no indication that any such sale takes place, an Indian Air Force officer expresses concern that the sales would violate India’s export policy.
September 1998-February 2001 Iraq 10 consignments of prohibited materials including titanium vessels, spherical aluminum powder, titanium centrifugal pumps, and industrial cells with platinum anodes The Indian company NEC Engineers Private Ltd. reportedly sells materials that could be used for the production of rocket solid fuel. The consignments’ worth is estimated at $791,343.
December 1998 Politically friendly countries Proposed: Trishul and Akash surface-to-air missiles (SAM) and Nag anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM) Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the principal scientific advisor to the Indian government, tells reporters that India will be ready to sell tactical missiles in two years to “political friends.” The short-range Prithvi ballistic missile, however, will not be exported.
April 2002 Friendly third-world countries Proposed: PJ-10/Brahmos supersonic cruise missile The Brahmos is expected to enter production by late 2003 or early 2004. Indian government officials say Brahmos exports will be restricted to “friendly third-world countries.”
February 2003 Unspecified Proposed: ATGMs, SAMs, and air-to-air missiles (AAAM) BDL announces plans to jointly manufacture missiles for export with the European Aeronautical Defense and Space Company (EADS). The joint venture will produce ATGMs, SAMs, and AAAMs.
February 2003 Israel Proposed: Lakshya unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) Israel and India are reportedly involved in price negotiations regarding the export of Lakshya UAVs. Israel has expressed interest in using the UAV as a targeting drone.
March 2003 International Defense Exhibition, Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) BrahMos supersonic anti-ship cruise missile DRDO's Chief Controller of R&D Dr. Sivathanu Pillai says that India is exploring West and East Asian markets for exporting the BrahMos.
May 2003 New Delhi Proposed: Exports of anti-tank missiles and sub-systems of the Prithvi ballistic missile Indian government reportedly exploring possibilities of missile sales abroad. Some reports suggest that India may have already exported Prithvi ballistic missile sub-systems.
October 2003 Iraq Ten shipments of equipment that included titanium vessels and centrifugal pumps at an estimated value of $800,000 Indian police arrest Hans Raj Shiv, Director of NEC Engineers Pvt. Limited.
April 2004 Russia Ship- and aircraft-borne versions of BrahMos supersonic cruise missile The Indo-Russian joint-venture company BrahMos Aerospace Ltd. signs agreement with Russia's main arms export agency Rosoboronexport to market the BrahMos cruise missile in international markets.
September 2004 South Africa Defense Exposition BrahMos supersonic cruise missile India displays BrahMos supersonic cruise missile at the South African Defense Exposition.
