Description and Activities: The Uranium Conversion Plant is part of the Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC) in Trombay. It was established in 1984 as a small scale facility to convert uranium oxide (yellow cake) to uranium hexafluoride (UF6). UF6 from the Uranium Conversion Plant is most likely sent to BARC's Uranium Enrichment Plant that is also located in Trombay.
The facility is not under International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards. It has a yearly capacity of 100 metric tons of uranium metal (MTU).
