Description and Activities: Established in 1990, the Mineral Research and Development Center (MRDC) at Kollam focuses on the development of processing methods for exploiting low-grade sand deposits. The R&D laboratory also researches the creation and improvement of value addition processes as well as products. Improving the efficiency and environmental standards of IREL's existing plants is another goal of the MRDC.
