Fuel Manufacturing Plant (FMP)

Location: Isfahan (Esfahan)
Subordinate to: AEOI
Size: Commercial scale
Primary Function: Fuel fabrication

Description:

The FMP will produce fuel assemblies for the IR-40 and Bushehr nuclear reactors. According to government officials, Iran will begin construction of FMP in 2003, commission it in 2005, and commence operations in 2007. Bushehr will use low enriched UO2. The IAEA believes that the fuel assemblies for the IR-40 reactor will use natural UO2 fuel supplied by the UCF at Isfahan.
