Size: Seven research departments (electrical and computer, biotechnology, chemical, mechanical, agriculture, materials and metallurgy, and the department of technical development studies). In addition, IROST also maintains research centers in Arak (a research center and an industrial center), Esfahan, Tabriz, Shahrood, Shiraz, Kerman, Gilan, and Mashad.
Primary Function: IROST is committed to improving "the scientific and technical skills in both the public and private sector by supporting the scientists and researchers in [the] technical and financial [arenas]." The primary thrust of IROST, judging from its website, appears to be information technology. It offers website development and web-hosting services.
