
Location: Latitude 36° 18' North; longitude 59° 35' East; 730km east of Tehran; province of Khorasan
Primary Function: Rocket and solid-fuel missile engine manufacturing; missile testing.
Description and Activities: The facility of Mashhad, located 730km east of Tehran in the province of Khorasan, manufactures rockets and solid-fuel missile engines. It is also a missile test site. On 20 February 2000, Iran tested the Shehab 3 from the Mashhad area. The commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi, supervised this test launch.
