Location: Taji, Baghdad, NW of Baghdad north gate, approximately 20km NW of city center Subordinate to: Karama State Establishment, Military Industrialization Commission Primary Function: Production of guidance components
Description: Not to be confused with the Fateh Company, the Fateh Factory was established in early 1999 after the Desert Fox strikes against the Wazeriyah and Qadhimiya sites of the Karama State Establishment (KSE). Under KSE management, the Fateh Factory was tasked with many of the same activities undertaken by the Wazeriyah site since its inception, namely production of the gun stabilization system on the T-72 tank, manufacture of mechanical parts for the Samoud-2 guidance set (gimbals, etc.), and development of the guidance system for the Saham Saddam SAM. [Note: See entry for Wazeriyah site.] The Fateh Factory also produced some mechanical parts for the Samoud engine and airframe. Guidance parts were sent from Fateh to the Al-Quds site for assembly.
Construction at the site—including the addition of a clean room—was on-going during UNMOVIC inspections, as Iraq planned to move some of the activities of Al-Quds to the Fateh Factory.
