Other Names: Al-Fateh Company, Fat'h Company Location: Ameriyah, Baghdad, approximately 20km west of city center, located on the grounds of the Ibn-Fernas Center (Al-Faris Factory, Ameriyah site) Subordinate to: Military Industrialization Commission Primary Function: R&D for solid-propellant missiles and rockets
Description: Not to be confused with the Fateh Factory, the Fateh Company was established in 1999 after the Desert Fox strikes against the Wazeriyah and Qadhimiya sites of the Karama State Establishment (KSE). Research and development activities on the Ababil-100/Fateh missile were transferred from the Qadhimiya site to the Fateh Company at that time. The director of the Fateh missile project, Brig. M'arouf, had his headquarters at this location.
In September 1999, Iraq officially changed the name of the Ababil-100 to the Fateh ("Victory") missile, and in April 2001, the entire project was pulled out of Karama State Establishment control and placed under this new entity, the Fateh Company. The facilities of the Rashid State Establishment (Amin, M'utasim, and Ma'moun) were integrated with the Fateh Company, given Rashid's capabilities in solid-propellant manufacturing.
The Ameriyah location performed design calculations, planning and other development functions related to the missile project, with manufacturing for solid systems being carried out at Rashid facilities. These included Al-Fateh, Al-Ubour (a solid-propellant surface-to-air missile using a similar motor as the Fateh), Al-Nida (a composite-propellant version of the Ababil-50), and Al-Ra'ad (a composite-propellant version of the Luna/Frog SSM).
