Missile Facilities

Al-Quds Factory

Location: Taji, Baghdad, approximately 20km NW of city center
Subordinate to: Karama State Establishment, Military Industrialization Commission
Primary Function: Research, development, assembly, and testing of Samoud-2 guidance systems

Description:
Following the Desert Fox attacks on missile infrastructure, Iraq decided to move its guidance and control activities out of the Wazeriyah location and to this new facility in the Taji area. Specifically, Iraq moved those engineers involved in design, development, and testing for guidance and control, as well as the related areas of trajectory and aerodynamic analysis. Al-Quds did provide some support to the Fateh guidance work carried out at Milad-MRDC, but its main focus was on designs and assemblies for Samoud-2 guidance. Towards the end of the UNMOVIC inspection regime, Iraq had begun to move some of the assembly activities from Al-Quds to the Fateh Factory, located a short distance away.
