Diphosgene (DP, trichloromethylchloroformate)
Diphosgene, a choking gas, may be among the CW agents stockpiled in the DPRK. Choking gases, a category that includes chlorine, phosgene, diphosgene, and a few others, are reportedly manufactured at the following facilities in North Korea: April 25 Vinalon Factory, Ch'ŏngsu Chemical Factory, Factory No. 297 (No. 297 Research Institute), February 8th Vinalon Factory, Hamhŭng Chemical Factory, Hŭngnam Chemical Fertilizer Plant, Hwasong Chemical Factory, Hwasun Chemical Complex, Shinŭi'ju Chemical Factory, the Sŭnch'on Calcium Cyanamide Fertilizer Factory, and the Sŭnch'on Vinalon Complex. It is not known in what quantity North Korea produces or stockpiles diphosgene.
