Other Names: Sunch'ŏn Lime Nitrogenous Fertilizer Factory; Sunch'ŏn Chemical Factory (順川化學工場)
Location: Sunch'ŏn (順川市), South P'yŏng'an Province (平安南道), North Korea
Subordinate to: 5th Machine Industry Bureau (第5機械産業總局), Second Economic Committee (第2經濟委員會) for chemical weapons production, and the Ministry of Chemical Industry (化學工業省) for civilian production
Size: Combined production of 100,000-150,000 tons of chemicals annually
Primary Function: Production of fertilizers and industrial chemicals such as calcium cyanamide and calcium carbide; alleged production of a variety of CW agents including blood agents (e.g., cyanogen chloride), blister agents (e.g., mustard), choking agents (e.g., phosgene), and riot-control agents (e.g., CN)
Description: The Sunch'ŏn Calcium Cyanamide Fertilizer Factory is one of North Korea's four major fertilizer plants and is most likely a part of the Sunch'ŏn Vinalon Complex. This factory reportedly produces CW agents, but considering the lack of detailed information in the open source literature, it is difficult to confirm the allegations of CW-related activities at this facility.
