One possibility is that "San'ŭm-ri" is a reference to an old name during the Japanese colonial period that no longer exists. There were two places called "San'ŭm-ri" in Yŏkp'o-kuyŏk and "Sun'an-kuyŏk" of present day Pyongyang.]
