CN (chloracetophenone, Mace™)
Riot-control agents (i.e., tear gases including CN and CS) are reportedly manufactured in the DPRK at the April 25 Vinalon Factory, Ch'ŏngjin Chemical Fiber Complex, Ch'ŏngsu Chemical Factory, February 8th Vinalon Factory, Hamhŭng Chemical Factory, Hŭngnam Chemical Fertilizer Plant, Manp'o Chemical Factory, Shinŭi'ju Chemical Complex, as well as the Sŭnch'on Calcium Cyanamide Fertilizer Factory and the Sŭnch'on Vinalon Complex. The Kanggye Chemical Factory has been reported specifically with regard to the ongoing production of CN and CS. Other than quelling its own domestic disturbances, it is not known for what purpose the DPRK might employ CN militarily, nor is it known in what quantity North Korea produces or stockpiles this agent.
