Description and Activities:
The Al Technique Corporation of Pakistan (ATCOP) was established in 1986 and it quickly established itself as Pakistan's leading company in the field of lasers and modern optics. The company employs a workforce of about 400 highly trained personnel and is located on the Potohar plateau 20km outside Islamabad. The company's six major areas of expertise include lasers and optics, mechanics, electronics, testing, measurement and evaluation, and design of components and complete systems.

ATCOP develops, manufactures, and provides support for:

  • Lasers and electro-optics in the visible and infra-red spectrum
  • Optical components and systems designed to strict military standards
  • Thin film optical coatings
  • Metallic coatings
  • Electronic sub-assemblies and systems
  • Precision mechanics

The company also has an environmental testing facility for testing and submitting components, sub-assemblies, modules, and complete assemblies to the rigors of military standards.

After Pakistan conducted nuclear tests in May 1998, ATCOP was sanctioned by the US government for involvement in Pakistan's nuclear and missile programs. However, the precise details the company's involvement in the above programs remains classified.
