Primary Function: The Banias oil refinery is likely to produce a number of petro-chemical derivatives of use to the Syrian CW program. It also produces 45,000 tons of sulfur annually for subsequent processing.

Description:
The Banias oil refinery was opened in 1982 and has been in continuous operation since that date. The Homs refinery treats light and heavy crude oils and produces a full range of products.
