NIS Nuclear Profiles Nuclear Power Plant Entry Guidelines

Incidents & Accidents  These must be rated INES 2 to merit a table entry, and must be rated INES 3 to merit an abstract.
Facility Equipment Upgrades  Upgrades are only abstracted if MPC&A related.
Working Conditions  Only strikes are abstracted.  Information solely about wage arrears or threats to strike is not abstracted, but is included in strike abstracts as appropriate.
Spent Fuel  Abstracts are written regarding spent fuel transportation for reprocessing, or new facilities for spent fuel storage.  Information listing total spent fuel and waste on site is also abstracted.
Terrorist Attacks  All reports are abstracted.
Facility Director  Administrators are updated as necessary in the summary information for a given facility.
New Power Reactors  Only major policy statements or developments are abstracted.
Safety Developments, Fresh Fuel Deliveries, Transfer of Spent Fuel to Casks  Decisions to abstract this information are made by staff members on a case-by-case basis.
Foreign Assistance Articles on this topic are abstracted only if related to MPCA/PP, or if a large new program is starting up.  Corresponding entries are also made in the relevant Foreign Assistance file for Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Ukraine
Other Decisions to abstract other articles are made by staff members on a case-by-case basis

The main focus of the NIS Nuclear Profiles is nuclear nonproliferation rather than nuclear reactor safety.  Profiles has instituted the following guidelines to allow staff to concentrate on the primary issue of concern.
