Kundian Nuclear Complex-1 (KNC-1)

Location: Kundian, NW region of Punjab Province; Approximately 200km SW of Islamabad
Subordinate To: Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC)
Size: Appears to be a 300km² facility with numerous buildings
Facility Status: Operational

The Kundian Nuclear Complex-1 (KNC-1) is located adjacent to the CHASNUPP-1 and CHASNUPP-2 facilities. [1] The facility has been manufacturing fuel for the KANUPP reactor in Karachi since Canada halted its supply of heavy water and fuel to Pakistan in the late 1970s. [2] According to the International Atomic Energy Agency, the KNC-1 facility has a 20-ton capacity. [3]
