The IAEA learned of this previously undeclared waste storage facility site in 2003 and inspected the site twice in 2003 and 2004. Iran has stored liquid waste resulting from a series of uranium conversion experiments at the Tehran Nuclear Research Center at a salt marsh near Qom. [1] Additionally, Tehran shipped evaporated uranium and collectors used in atomic vapor laser isotope separation experiments to the site. [2] In respect to the latter, the IAEA stated that adequate nuclear material accountancy was not possible due to the small quantities of material. [3]
